During the 2007 BCI symposium I had the pleasure of listening to a number of lectures from some eminent continuity experts as well as some rather less eminent and less expert individuals. As a former academic and student of informatics you can smell bullsh*t from some distance away. Fortunately, it wasn’t just me. During a particularly overworked presentation the women next to me sighed, turned towards me and whispered, “Is it me or is this guy full of it?”. The presentation went something like this: We’ve solved all these problems over here [we haven't], so here is a new problem [it isn't] and I’ve given it a name [he did]. So now I am the expert in this particular area, buy my book, services, whatever. Like the woman sitting next to me, I fail to see the need to find more problems to solve before we get the fundamentals right.
